We went to a party last night, and Julia ate a few cashews. A few hours later, she woke up and was crying and saying that her arm hurt. When I went in her room to get her, she had a rash all over her body, and her eyelid and ears were swollen so we took her to the ER. They gave her benadryl and a steroid by mouth, and the rash and swelling went down. She was very happy after the benadryl, but hated the taste of the steroid. The nurse who gave it to her asked Julia when he was done if she wanted him to leave, and she simply replied, "Yep." So, we'll follow-up with her pediatrician in a few days. I'd like her to be tested for all allergens. I guess it's possible to be allergic to some nuts, so she may just be allergic to cashews. She has eaten peanut butter 1-2 times/week for the last year. Oh, by the way - she loved the cashews and tried to take the dish with her when I told her it was time to go :( Poor Julia!
Onto the housing...both contracts on our house here and the house in New York have fallen through. The house in VA received a very bad appraisal, he missed several things in the house and they appraised our house lower than an interior unit. They buyers tried to contest the appraisal, but the bank said that they were sticking by the appraisal. We went back on the market and within 24 hours we had 10 groups of people come through and our agent informed us that two of the agents who showed the house have called him telling him that their buyers are interested, and one is sending a contract over tomorrow. We'll probably stall the contract for a few days in hopes of getting a few more. The house in New York fell through because the sellers were trying to buy another home that needed a new septic system (15-25K) and they couldn't agree on who'd pay for it. On the house in NY, the sellers have taken it off of the market until they find a new house. Our agent, Merine, is in contact with them in hopes that they will find a new house and let us know so we can put another contact on it.
So, with all of those people coming through the house today, we had to leave from about 10 AM - 6 PM. We had a great day, even though we were all really tired since we didn't get home from the ER until after 2:30 AM! We went to the playground, walked around Old Town, took a boat ride from Old Town to the National Harbor, went to Bugsy's for lunch, and kicked a ball around.
Hopefully we'll have some good news soon to share with the housing situation/move!
This looks like a good place for a Saturday afternoon nap!
With her flower balloon that was made by a street entertainer, who also gave her a lollipop!
